Welcome Summer

I can't believe the past year has flown by. It's summer again, which means enjoying the beautiful weather and taking lots of fun vacations. Just because it's summer doesn't mean that life at Duke slows down, so I have been crazy busy at work for the past several months. Despite the craziness, I love my job and I can't imagine doing anything else.

Mark is off work for the summer and is happily now a "House-husband". Although I'm incredibly jealous of him sleeping in and hanging out at home, I know that he deserves some time off. He is actually a great house husband; he cleans, does laundry, takes care of the dogs, and runs errands in order to help me out. I think he's been enjoying his time and I'm really glad we planned well enough throughout the year that he can take the summer off without having to worry about a part time job.

Our summer trips have already started. While Mark went to a bachelor party at the beginning of this month, I joined some of my favorite girls for a weekend at the lake. We spent two days just laying in the sun, getting a tan, and catching up on life. On the way back we got a flat tire, although I still believe that the squirrel I ran over a few minutes before was getting revenge on me, it turns out it was just a wood chip that got stuck in the side wall.

This past week I was able to go to Maryland and spend several days with Shannon and Brady. I got to visit some family too while I was there. It was so great to see my grandmother, aunt Susan, cousin Jason and his family. I don't get to see them often, but it was so nice to catch up and hear what has been happening in their lives. I had an awesome time with Shannon and Brady and can't believe how big he has gotten since i saw him last. He is talking up a storm and acts like a kid instead of a baby, its hard to remember that he is not even two years old yet. Shannon is such an awesome mom and its so fun to see her in that role. One of the greatest things about our friendship is that we can go months without seeing each other, but still just pick up right where we left off!

Here are some pictures of our summer so far...
